Young bands make jailbreak

LOCAL four-piece Torn Identity, previously known to local fans as DUI, will be headlining Adelaide record company Greasy Pop Records' "Mess With Ya Mind" tour tomorrow night.

The boys are back after a 10-month hiatus from the live scene, writing new songs for their soon to be released EP.

The band has been busy recently with regular gigs lined up in Melbourne and Adelaide, coming out this weekend to impress some of the Greasy Pop execs.

Greasy Pop Records prides itself in promoting the best and loudest live music in South Australia, having previously brought down some young Adelaide bands to Mount Gambier last June.

Supporting Torn Identity on the night will be acoustic blues artist Brenton Manser, unique power pop band Bloom and all-girl punkers Blow Up Betty.

In their short time together, Blow Up Betty have built a steady fan base, releasing their own debut EP in August, which went to number one on the South Australian charts, and making it to the finals of the National Universities' Battle of the Bands this year and last year.

The girls will also be making an appearance at community radio station 5GTR's stand at the Mount Gambier Show tomorrow afternoon.

The Greasy Pop Mess With Ya Mind show will be held at the Old Mount Gambier Jail tomorrow, from 8pm, and is open to all ages.

Tickets are available at the door for $10, or $15 for entry and a CD sampler.
